GAL
LeaderOeste, founded in 2003, is a non- profit association
based in Cadaval, in the Oeste Region. With an extension
of 2500 squared metres, Cadaval is the first region in Portugal
for agriculture. Currently, LeaderOeste has more than 50
members, which are equally divided between agricultural
associations and local authorities (mainly municipalities).
In addition to the EC Leader+, the GAL runs projects aimed
to develop, valorise and promote the typical local products,
and it co- operates with other agencies dealing with the
environmental care and the development of the Oeste region.
As regards the Interwood Project itself, Leader Oeste GAL
promotes the online sharing of experiences and projects,
to identify management models suitable for the woodlands
properties in Oeste, in order to preserve the Oeste Region
woodlands, through the interconnection of human, natural
and financing resources activated by the project and developed
through APAS Floresta.
