The
Associazione Forestale del Veneto Orientale was founded
in December 2002, and it was promoted by the Conferenza
dei Sindaci del Veneto Orientale with the support of Gal
Venezia Orientale. Its mission is to develop an effective
forestry policy based on sustainable silviculture in the
inlands lowlands of north- eastern Veneto.
Currently the Association collects ten lowland owners (all
municipalities of the Veneto Region) which share the following
common objectives:
-extend to every woodland the use of management plans
-develop co- operation between woodland owners, in order
to stimulate innovative management of woodland properties
-encourage woodland planting in the Eastern Veneto, through
the local, national and EC grant aid available

TESAF,
apart from being involved in the project as a financial
partner, carries out research activities based on the woodland
association experiences on woodland management, tree planting
on new cultivated land, timber commerce and eco- certification.
As regards the project itself, TESAF is responsible for
developing a comparative estimate of the different woodland
properties, by suggesting opportunities and/or interconnecting
the different experiences, while contributing to the database
creation and elaboration.

APAS
FLORESTA, which is a member of the GAL LeaderOeste,
was founded in 2003 as an evolution of APAS (Agriculture
Association) and heads all the Portuguese forestry associations.
APAS Floresta manages the whole woodland resource (of different
sizes) which is mainly private, by purchasing a full range
of services, as: forestry chain promotion and development,
technical assistance to forestry producers, environmental
protection, woodland expansion and quality improvement.
The woodland area comprises 23 municipalities and about
81200 ha of forestry. Each woodland has a specific management
plan, while all plans refer to the following common objectives:
-woodlands protection from fire, diseases, soil erosion
-agro-forestry products promotion
-management monitoring through specific indicators
